Pierre Mondy

Pierre Mondy (born Pierre Cuq; 10 February 1925 – 15 September 2012) was a French film and theatre actor and director. He was married four times: to Claude Gensac, Pascale Roberts, Annie Fournier, and Catherine Allary, all actresses. He died on 15 September 2012, aged 87, from lymphoma. Mondy's first on-screen appearance was in 1949 in Jacques Becker's Rendez-vous de juillet and he appeared in over 140 films over the course of his career. In 1960, he received international recognition for the role of Napoléon Bonaparte in the film Austerlitz directed by Abel Gance. In the 1970s, his most successful film was the comedy Mais où est donc passée la septième compagnie?. From 1992 until 2005, he appeared in the French television series Les Cordier, juge et flic. As a voice actor, he voiced Caius Obtus in Asterix et la Surprise de Cesar (Asterix vs. Caesar; 1985) and Cetinlapsus in Asterix Chez Le Bretons (Asterix in Britain; 1986). Mondy directed four films and thirteen television episodes, and wrote two television screenplay adaptions. He also directed over 60 theatre productions, many of them at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal in Paris. Pierre Mondy, nascut Pierre Cuq (Neuilly-sur-Seine, França, 10 de febrer de 1925 - París, França, 15 de setembre de 2012), va ser un actor i director de cinema i teatre francès.

Acteur et metteur en scène français, est né le 10 février 1925, à Neuilly-sur-Seine. Son véritable nom est Pierre Cuq. Il poursuit ses études au lycée Lapérouse d'Albi, où il obtient son baccalauréat. A la suite de son cursus scolaire, il décide de s'inscrire (en 1946), au cours Simon, l'un des plus anciens et renommés en terme de formation de comédiens professionnels. Il commence en tant que doublure en 1948, pour ensuite faire son entrée au cinéma en 1949, dans le film « Rendez-vous de juillet ». En 1960, ses talents de comédien sont récompensés, avec la reconnaissance internationale, pour le rôle de Napoléon Bonaparte dans le film « Austerlitz » d'Abel Gance. Il continue sa carrière, dans des comédies, dites « franchouillardes », comme la « 7ème Compagnie » dans les années 70. Dans les années 1990 et 2000, il joue dans des séries télé, comme « Les Cordier, juge et flic ».
