ولد في 22 ديسمبر 1928 - توفي 10 يونيو 2007 يعد أحد أبرز كُـتّـاب السيناريو المصريين الذي ظهروا في تاريخ السينما، إذ كتب أكثر من 150 فيلم سينمائي ومعظمها نالت نجاحًا كبيرًا. التحق بالمعهد العالي للفنون المسرحية الذي درس من خلاله في قسم التمثيل. أول سيناريو له هو لفيلم "باب الحديد" الذي عرض لأول مرة عام 1958. والد الإعلاميين عماد الدين أديب وعمرو أديب والمخرج عادل أديب.
