Asami Sugiura was only nineteen when she starred in Kiss Me Or Kill Me: Todokanakutemo Aaishiteru. This film clearly marked the beginning of her career, as she went on to take on roles in a variety of productions: exploitation films, adult films, gravure idol photoshoots, and action films. After obtaining her parents' consent, she chose not to pursue university studies. Before breaking into cinema, she had worked in several jobs: waitress, telemarketer, and pachinko parlor employee. A friend introduced her to the film industry, where she seized the opportunity to play a role that required nude scenes. In 2005, she was offered modeling contracts for specialized magazines and studios. In 2006, she changed agents twice and opted for a career under the simple first name of Asami, before returning to her full name in 2008, then switching back to Asami for good in 2009. It was with Machine Girl that she achieved wider fame. The film, which has become a cult classic, left a lasting impression: was it her piercing gaze, her legs molded into a miniskirt, her unbridled audacity, or her arms transformed into weapons? In any case, this role made her an icon. In 2007, she met director Noboru Iguchi, with whom she would collaborate on several occasions. After appearing in numerous pink and pornographic films, she announced in 2008 that she would be gradually withdrawing from this genre to devote herself to mainstream cinema—without, however, giving up daring roles. In 2014, her talent was recognized with a special award at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in Japan. Passionate about reptiles, cinema, and karaoke, Asami Sugiura also plays the piano and saxophone. She has also published several books of photographs featuring herself.

En 2006, elle change deux fois d’agent et opte pour une carrière sous le simple prénom d’Asami, avant de revenir à son nom complet en 2008, puis de repasser définitivement à Asami en 2009. C’est avec Machine Girl qu’elle accède à une notoriété plus large. Le film, devenu culte, a marqué les esprits : était-ce son regard perçant, ses jambes moulées dans une mini-jupe, son audace débridée ou ses bras transformés en armes ? Toujours est-il que ce rôle a fait d’elle une icône. En 2007, elle rencontre le réalisateur Noboru Iguchi, avec qui elle collaborera à plusieurs reprises. Après avoir tourné dans de nombreux films roses et pornographiques, elle annonce en 2008 son retrait progressif de ce genre pour se consacrer au cinéma grand public — sans pour autant renoncer aux rôles audacieux. En 2014, son talent est récompensé par un prix spécial au Festival international du film fantastique de Yubari, au Japon. Passionnée de reptiles, de cinéma et de karaoké, Asami Sugiura joue également du piano et du saxophone. Elle a par ailleurs publié plusieurs livres de photographies à son effigie.

東京都出身。高校卒業後、親の「やりたいことを探すのもいい」との言葉から進学せずフリーターとして生活。 電話勧誘やパチンコ店のカウンター業務、居酒屋やファミレスなどを転々としながら働いていたが、ある日友人に「ヌードもある映画の仕事」を紹介され、「女優」になれる千載一遇のチャンスと考え出演を決意。 2005年1月、『週刊大衆』ほかのヘアヌードグラビアでデビューし、雑誌や写真集などでヌードモデルとして活動。 AVへの出演の話が舞い込み、一週間一人で自宅にこもり熟考した結果、認知度を上げる近道だと考えて出演を決断。 同年4月から九鬼専属で「in Love 亜紗美」の作品でAVデビューする。 2006年2月には九鬼から宇宙企画に、7月には桃太郎映像出版に移籍。2007年7月には桃太郎最終作をリリースし、その後はダスッ!など複数ブランドへの出演となっている。 アダルトビデオでは、美少女系、ロリ系のキャラクターを演じていたが、井口昇監督に出会い、1970年代の東映ピンキー・バイオレンス映画の女優の顔だと言われたことが転機となり、同監督の作品を中心に多数映像作品に出演するようになった。 2008年に苗字『杉浦』がついた。本人曰く、大人の事情との事。ZENピクチャーズ4作品に出演の後、2009年1月の舞台挨拶時には芸名を元の「亜紗美」に戻していた。
